The 27 Club

Risha Mae Ordas

Her consciousness propelled even before

Her molecular capabilities had the urge to shift

The frames of her mind creaked in age

Springs no longer spry

Years sigh in quiet resignation

A quiet rumbling in the undertow

The horizon calls,

And for once,

She was awake to be beckoned

The earth stir at her fleet foot

The universe looks down from its perch

To watch the metamorphosis

Of her youth

A goddess, puissant.

A tempest, powerful

An opportunity, primed

All rebirthed from the carcass

Of yesterday’s girl

Bathing in the fire
